Although there are several fundamental works referring to the Romanian commons, this is the first written from the theoretical perspective of political science. At the same time, this book represents a collection of case studies which are analyzed from various perspectives, highlighting different aspects of the Ostromian theoretical approach. Thus, it may be seen and understood as a collection of individual papers related to the institutional analysis of the commons managed by the Romanian communal villages throughout time.
